Post-Doctoral Fellow Opportunity
Job Description:
The Moslehi Lab and the Section of cardio-oncology & immunology at UCSF (https://ucsfhealthcardiology.ucsf.edu/cardio-oncology) are recruiting highly motivated candidates for post-doctoral fellowship. Our group has an interest in the cardiac-immune interface, with an overarching hypothesis that the immune system plays a critical role in cardiac homeostasis and pathology. We have uncovered previous unappreciated roles of T cell immune checkpoints in the heart; clinically, we have identified myocarditis as a novel complication of immune checkpoint blockade (Manuscripts in New England Journal of Medicine: PMID: 27806233, Lancet: PMID: 29536852, Lancet Oncology: PMID: 30442497, JAMA Oncology: PMID: 30242316, Circulation: PMID: 34723640). In the laboratory, we have created pre-clinical models that allow for the functional role immune checkpoints play in myocarditis (Manuscripts in Nature: PMID: 36385524, Science Translational Medicine: PMID: 36322628, Cancer Discovery: PMID: 33257470, Circulation: PMID: 37746718). These findings have led to novel drug developments for inflammatory heart disease which our group is now testing in patients (Manuscripts in New England Journal of Medicine: PMID: 31189043, Cancer Discovery: PMID: 36815259, Circulation: In Press). The Moslehi laboratory is well-funded with multiple NIH grants and growing partnership with industry. Postdoctoral Scholars will be eligible for generous benefits including supplemented health insurance and University housing in San Francisco https://postdocs.ucsf.edu/benefits.
The post-doctoral position will be uniquely positioned to carry out experiments that elucidate the immunobiology of the cardiovascular system – specifically in inflammatory heart disease - and will develop novel therapeutics for cardiovascular disease.
